Connecticut Bridal Makeup Artist | dd Nickel Bridal

Do you offer Airbrush Makeup?

The simple answer is, no….I do not offer airbrush makeup.  As an artist, choosing the tools and techniques that you feel create the best finished product is part of the job.  I prefer to use tried and true traditional techniques that create a soft, dewy finish to the skin, feel lightweight, look flawless in photos yet natural in person, and last throughout the day and night. All of the products I use can be seen in all of my commercial work and in the images on this site.  Everything is incredibly long wearing, sweat-proof, cry-proof and have been tested  in the rainforests of Costa Rica (true story!), a torentially rainy wedding day in New England and by an adventurous bride who took a jump (or two) into the pool….during the reception!

Do you offer Hair Styling Services?

YES!  Please inquire about hair services as well as makeup. For smaller bridal parties, I am able to accommodate both hair and makeup with my team of trusted assistants.  For larger bridal parties, I have a network of talented stylists that I happily recommend.  Hair and makeup trials can be scheduled in my studio at the same time for your convenience.

Examples of my hair work can be seen in many images on this site.  When viewing the slideshow, click on the ” i “ for more info on the styling team.

What are your Rates?

Rates vary based on the number of people in your bridal party, the type of services requested and the location of your event.  Please  fill out the contact form for a customized quote.

All quotes include travel to your location, lashes for all who would like them, and a lipstick for the bride for touchups!

Will you stay for touchups on the Big Day?

Of course!  Rates start at $100 .per hour.  Please share the details of your day so I can include that in your customized quote

Can I book a trial!

YES!  If you’re interested in scheduling a trial, please email me at  If you haven’t filled out the initial inquiry form yet, please visit the contact page to share the details of your big day! Trials are held in my studio in New Haven

Trial rates are $100 for makeup / $125 for hair

What should I bring to the trial?

The trial is the time to create a look that you love.  For inspiration, I love to see the dress and any details you’ve put together.  I enjoy creating looks based on the theme or mood of your day.  Photos of yourself that you like (or don’t) are also helpful. Pinterest or photos from magazines are always welcome.  They are a great jumping off point, however, please know that many of the looks on Pinterest have been overly edited into looks that make them harsh looking in person.  And you won’t have a team of lighting professionals following you around on your big day…so bring your inspiration…but also your imagination.  I want to create a look that  makes you look like the very best version of YOU!

Do I need to do a trial before I book you for the Big Day?

That is based on your comfort level.  There are many brides who have felt confident enough to secure the date first and schedule their trial at a later date.  And many choose to do the trial first before confirming.  The choice is yours, I’m comfortable working either way!  Please know that I unfortunately cannot hold your date without a contract and non-refundable deposit.

Do I have to wear more makeup for photos?

The good news is…You don’t have to be overly made up to look gorgeous in photos!  In fact, I would prefer it. Fresh, dewy skin, highlighted eyes, a soft, pop of color on the cheeks and a beautiful lip color is a great place to start.  I don’t believe that your face is the best place to show your trendy side…ever…especially on your wedding day.

If you wear no makeup or minimal makeup on a daily basis,  then obviously you will need to be open to wearing a bit more makeup than normal for the best results in your photos.  The trial is the time to create that look that makes you feel comfortable in person and will deliver the timeless photos you’re investing in.

How do I secure you for the Big Day?

All dates are reserved with a signed contract and a non-refundable deposit.  There are two deposit options available.  If you’re interested in securing your date, please email
